768 kbps dsl is how many times faster than 56k dialup (or 45k what I usually connect at on dialup)? Is it like 12 times faster or something like that?

A little over 13x faster. 13.7 to be precise and if you connected at 56k. Please also keep in mind that on your speed tests for the dsl, more than likely you will not pull the full 768 as well.

About 13 or so.. But remember, You won’t actually be running at 768k, you will probably running at about 80KB/sec as your maximum, and that won’t be reached often.. You’re probably connected at about 650k or something.
