Cant get cable, DSL, even satellite! Stuck with dialup…any alternatives?

Just moved to a place where no Cable, DSL, or ISDN is available. Had a HughesNet satellite internet rep come out today who told us satallite is unavailable because our trees block the signal. The trees blocking the signal are illegal to cut down in our state and will result in jail time. Stuck with horrid dial up. Is there ANY faster alternative??

You could try either Sprint or Verizon’s wireless broadband. It uses their cellular network and is supposed to be pretty fast..if you can get a signal. I guess if you have a cell phone and get a signal then there is a decent chance. It is like $60 a month and about $100 for the card (but sometimes they offer an online rebate).

  2. Unfortunately, no. It looks like you’ve already covered the bases for checking other possibilities. You might try petitioning the state about the trees on the grounds that they’re keeping you from enjoying YOUR property, but if I were you I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for something to happen in that arena. Sorry!

  3. yeah, pour boiling water over the tree roots. Sounds horrible so do something else to make up for it, like planting more trees somewhere else.
