Dialup faster than satellite?

I just signed up for satellite internet and it is slower than my old dialup access. Sure, download speed is faster…for downloading files. But, upload speed on the satellite is horrible! Regular web surfing is much slower than dialup.

I did a speed test on both connections. Look at the results and tell me if that is typical for dialup upload speeds to be so much faster. Should I complain to the satellite company after seeing the results below?

Satellite Average Speeds:
Upload: 70-100
Download: 1200-1500

Dialup Average Speeds:
Upload: 180-190
Download: 40-50

  2. yea that is right , usually satellite internet is use only for companies that need only incoming information like the weather and traffic updates or things like that it its slower in uploding because you have to change the signal so the sattlite can interprete what you are sending.

  3. It depends where one lives. I live in Florida and satellite was always offline because of the rain. I have had DSL for like 5 years and it was great until I moved then DSL got do slow. The towers were to far away. Then I got high speed thru comcast and I love it. Get away from Dial up!
