  1. Yes you need POTS to get a good deal on ADSL service. The best deal is with Cable if you have it in your area.
    Cox cable $17mo 768256 (I have 12Mbps512Mbps)
    AT&TBellSouth $25mo 256128
    MyBlueDish $50mo 512128

    POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service)

  2. DSL (Digital subscriber line) uses your phone line as a source of “connecting to the world”, depending on your location, different companies offer different rates and speeds. With DSL, the company you subscribe with gives you filters you put into your phone jack, and connect your phone to the filter, which keeps the DSL data from heading to the wrong place. The DSL would connected to the unfiltered phone jack to receive the information, which allows you to use the phone and internet at the same time. If your confused about this, add me as a contact and I’ll try to paraphrase it into easier terms. Enjoy.

  3. see dsl is alright but you have a phoneline with it so you could use a phone. but if you want to lose the line try cable. thats what i have and its very fast. now if you want super speedy loading and downloading try satellite. only prob is that it is a little expensive

  4. If what you are looking to do is get away from a land line ( Home telephone line ) DSL is out you need a Tele. line for that but…. you said you want to get away from that so I would suggest Cable I use Time Warner and it costs about $3.00 more than what I was paying for DSL but WAAAAYYY faster. I don’t know all the technical bits about transfers and such but I can tell you from a users point of view I can Download any song in 2 min. Cable VS. DSL at 5 min. and my pages load a ton faster too. If you want to get away from Tele. cost $ line go with Cable, most of your cable providers provide you with the modem anyway all you need is the ethernet card for your PC ( about $20.00 at Wal mart).

    Hope it helps
