   buy a pcmcia network card and use it with broadband internet connection. if broadband is not an option buy a 56000bps pcmcia modem.

   With a pentium 1 even if you had cable I don’t think it could go much faster…

   It’s impossible, on today’s technology on a 28000bps modem thats as fast as you’ll go. Need more speed then upgrade to: 56000bps modem (very cheap these days), ADSL, DSL, T1(Only recommended if you use lots of internet) or something else. Modem is for dial up and with dial-up you have to dial up all the time but with ADSL or other broadband you don’t have too! It’s always online. So Broadband is better than modem and dial up as it’s faster.
