   when connected to the internet you are connected to the internet not a network
   a network is a group of computers that are all linked together not using the internet
   connecting to the internet allows information transfer between computers not networked

   however both of them can be linked together

   Even though you are connected to the World Wide Web, your computer is displaying this message because it is referring to the NIC (Network Interface Card) not being connected to a 10/100 network or DSL/Cable Internet. It is a kind of “Check Engine Light” to let people know that there may be a problem with that connection.
