I am a 7 year SBCA certified VSAT installer and dealer.
I currently use Skype for calls from my computer to customers. Services like Vonage require much more upload bandwidth than satellite is capable of.
Satellite ISP’s don’t recomend using voip services because of the latency caused by the distances involved.
When they say they don’t support it, they mean they will not give you any customer support for any issues you may have using voip via satellite.
I have set up ciscoe viop phones for corporations on systems with larger bandwidth than the home user may receive on a satellite connection.
If you try Skype with your satellite ISP, use a good quality USB headset with microphone. Fred Meyers carries a Skype approved unit for around $50.00. Good luck with your sales.
