Try re installing the drive for the modem

As above… Reinstall your devices.
Right click the “My computer” icon on the desktop and select device manager from the hardware tab .
Find your “Modems” folder.
Double click on “Modems”
Right click the device and select uninstall.
Your screen will flash indicating removal of the device.
Go to the top line (Your “PC”, it will say something like, DC18940237F82
Right clike and select “scan for hardware changes”
XP will detect and reinstall your moden for you.
This should also detect your network adapters too
