You cannot plug your satellite into a DSL modem. DSL works with telephone lines, not satellite signals.

No. DSL requires a phone line. You just have to wait until the lines are upgraded in your area. DSL stands for digital subscriber line.

No. You have to have a POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) connection to receive ADSL or ISDN. The is a internet satellite service that is $35 to $50mo cheaper that Hughes(DirecPC). Look at http://www.mybluedish.com/speed-and-pricing.htm . $200 for equipment up front, but still cheaper that Hughes.
You can also check with your local cellular telephne provide like Cingular or Verizon. they have plug and play wireless HSI (High Speed Internet) package starting around $65mo. If you have a desktopit will mean you have to install a notebook PCMCIA card slot in your desktop. About $40 to $100.

In the first place, your Dish network is NOT 2-way, it is only 1-way, (download to the TV.)
Possibly, if DSL is not available, ISDN may be.(Somewhat expensive AND requires a “dedicated” telephone line!)
OR, you can try the cellphone providers in your area, IF you are in range of a tower.
Otherwise, like me, your stuck with a dial-up, until things catch up with you.(I get my power from a generator!!)
