Sorry, but the R10 is a DirecTivo unit and none of them yet have any networking capabilities. The article below gives a rundown of the R10 model, including the USB port which appears to be operational. There is just no software on board that works with it.

The first comment on here is pretty much correct. The R10 DirecTV Tivo cannot be connected to a wired or wireless network via the USB ports.
The R10 unit is considered by most to be a DirecTV Tivo Series 2.5, it is a D Tivo but cannot have the USB ports enabled with the Software Upgrades as with Previous Version of DirecTV Tivo’s. I have heard that SOME people have been able to get the networking to work on the R10 units but it requires a Chip Modification on the motherboard, which is VERY dangerous and you could turn the R10 into a doorstop. Previous Version of DirecTV Tivo’s can use PTVnet software to enable the USB ports so that a USB Ethernet Adapter can be used to connect the D Tivo’s to your homes wired/wireless router via an ethernet cable. Again this is not possible with the R10 Unit.
Secondly Tivo To Go will NOT work with DirecTV Tivo’s, the program to use to transfer shows/movies from a DirecTV Tivo once it has been hacked (Modified) and networked would be Tytools 10R4. Tytools 10R4 transfers the shows/movies over your network, lets you edit out any commercials, then make into a true MPEG (since DirecTV Tivos shows/movies are in a .ty format), then lets you set them up as DVD files if you like.
I have a Phillips DSR704 that I modified with InstantCake 6.2 and PTVnet so I could install a 250GB hard drive and get the networking to work. I now use Tytools 10R4 to trnasfer all my shows and movies to my wireless laptop. I then had purchased a R10 unit when they first came out, once I decided to upgrade it also I found out it was not possible, so I sold it on Ebay and purchased another DSR704 from Ebay and modified it exactly as before. Now I have 5 DirecTV Tivo’s ALL modified, I have HMO and MRV functionality between all of them.
If you decide to sell your R10 Unit I would suggest either purchasing a Hughes SD-DVR40 or Phillips DSR704 from Ebay where you can find them fairly inexpensively.

First check out site #1 it has forums that explain how to hack your DirecTV Tivo and Tivo brand Tivo’s so that you have Networking abilities on your D Tivo which allow MRV (multiroom Viewing if you have more than one D Tivo), HMO (Home media Option) which allows you to have a PC connected to your home network that can be used as a server for your MP3′s and Pictures to be shown on your D Tivo. Once you hack the unit/s (HAS TO BE A SERIES 1 OR SERIES 2 DirecTV Tivo or Series 1 and Series 2 Tivo) you can apply some programs so that you can download the shows/movies from the decrypted programs stored on your D Tivo onto a PC for veiwing/Burning onto a DVD. If you have more questions I can give you alot more details if you email me. I have used these site below to aid me in Hacking 5 DirecTV Tivos (Qty2-SD-DVR40, HDVR2,Qty2- DSR704). I have HMO, MRV, can access over the internet with gotomydvr.com, can download shows/movies from all the units.
Site #2 is where you purchase the software necessary to upgrade the D Tivo, look for either their kits or if you want to upgrade yourself look at InstantCake 3.1 or 6.2, PTVnet, Slicer. (InstantCake is the operating system/ software displays you see on the screen, PTVnet is the software to boot the ISO disk you download onto your PC when you connect a NEW hard drive and it enables the USB ports and allows networking, The Slicer lets you get/receive upgrade from DirecTV without losing all your previous hacks upon software upgrades.)
#3 is a forum to get the other necessary software patches to allow you to decrypt the DirecTV signal before it is stored onto the D Tivo’s harddrive. And a patch to allow downloads of the shows/movies from the D Tivo. (Superpatch-67all-nutkase, and superpatch-62a, Tytool 10R4, and others)
