I have a subscription with vonage and i am trying to use the vonage phone line to connect to aol through dialup but it doesnt seem to connect, is it because it’s not posible or do i need to add like a filter or something ?
i have a 512 broadband connection and the voip phone adapter is pluged into the router , and from the phone adapter i connected the phone line to a laptop’s phone modem and that’s where im trying to dial up from but i cant connect, i tried a different service called budget dialup and it’s still not working any ideas why ? it connects to the computer and it does all the weird noise it does when it’s connecting but at the end it doesnt connect
VOip is only for dsl suscribers or cable internet users. You need the data carrying capabilities of these services to make it work right. Try At&t. for $12 – $15 a month you have dsl
There are many issues with VOip service to still need to be ironed out see PC WORLD’s latest issue… This unfortunately is still young technology..

it’s aol you need to contact vonage for the patch. aol uses a fked up protocal that has to be circumvented to use voip.
my best advise is to get away from aol there are better ips a lot cheaper that don’t take up hdd space.
