all i can say is i went from dialup to dsl, and my brand new, 600 dollar computer wont show internet backgrounds.

Go to CONTROL PANEL then ACCESSIBITY OPTIONS, then select the DISPLAY tab. Uncheck the USE HIGH CONTRAST checkbox. All background colors and fonts should return, if not, reboot and try again.
