live in lawrence, ms and cannot find any other isp that doesn’t use dialup.

Here is the situation. I live a mile from a major U.S. highway, yet I cannot get a Broadband connection. Yes it is kind of in the country, but should that actually matter? We deal with Verizon, whom does our dialup connection, but it is terrible at best. Verizon does not offer DSL for our location. Hughes net is too expensive, so that is not the answer. Am I stuck with dialup until I move? What is the best way to deal with this problem? If Verizon can’t service us, does that mean other phone companies cannot?

internet (broadband, not dialup)
water/sewer if you need to pay it
garbage removal
heat (is this typically gas or oil there?)

Moving to the area in a few months and working on my budget.

My daughter has AOL as her internet provider.She has an access number for dialup that is local so when it was set up they did not have the areacode on it to dialup.As of yesterday she is required to dial the area code with any local number.So now she can not get on the net.Can anyone help us? We need to know how to add the areacode to the local dial up number.You must be very step by step detailed.We are both DUMB when it comes to computers!!!

I have been searching in vain for DSL service for many months. Ive tried services such as Verizon and Earthlink, yet for some ungodly reason it isnt available in my area. My current internet provider is AOL and even they can’t offer me anythingold dial-up. I have no idea why its like this. I’m hurting here, to download a five minute song it takes between 20-30 minutes. I live in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, its not like I’;m in boonies or anything. Its looks as if cable internet and dial-up is the only two options. I’m in need of divine intervention…..
How difficult is it to get comcast cable internet. from what i heard its better than DSL, but wont i have to deal with installing it and paying like $40+/month?
