I have a laptop and i want to get wireless internet- i do not live in a wi-fi area. Is there something I could purchase that would allow internet to come to my laptop without any cables or dialup?

is it possible to ever increase the speed of dialup connection ?
is it possible to ever increase the speed of modem in dialup connection. normal dialup lines have copper cable, the cables used in LAN i suppose also have similar metal, then y this difference? dialup connection is max of 40kbps and LAN cable is in mbps?

modem help please?
well i want to get the internet on my second hand computer that i recently bought ……. i have an isp but the modem in the pc doesnt work (it says no dial tone) so i bought a external 1 for the dialup connection then the light which indicates the telephone line is in aint on…..why??? i checked all the cables and then i connected a phone and that worked?? ….. i cant work it out… plz help
