Best Internet Service for Rural Residents?

I live in a rural area and we’ve (my parents house) always had dial-up. We have direct tv for years and I saw that some satellites company have internet services. I would like to have speeds as close as 3.0. I heard there’s also a cell phone that allows you to access the web using your laptop. I would like something that allows everyone to get online whether it’s by laptop or desktop computer. CLOSE TO 3.0 speeds!
my whole family is with Verizon wireless (originally w/ Alltel)

how reliable are wireless internet services? Does it drop as much as cell phone calls?

I signed up for a wireless internet service and it drops every 5 minutes or so and stays down at least a minute. I dont think this is normal. The ISP is no help at all. They dont seem too concerned about it.

Do I need home phone service for a dial up modem or DSL?

Pretty self explanatory. I want either cheap DSL or a quality dial up modem but I don’t want to have home phone service at all. I just use my cell phone for that.

Obviously my place is properly wired, but do I need some kind of home service before getting my DSL/dial up?

cell phone or plan in europe for dial up access?

I need some recommendations for a cell phone solution in Europe

I currently have Sprint with no GSM network, so my current provider is out.

Here are my requirements

1) For a 3 month trip I would like to have a cell phone to hook up with bluetooth for my
laptop to dialup

2) I will travel across western Europe and need to receive voice calls

3) My data usage will probably be around 4 MB / day.

Is it better to sign up with a US provider here or buy and phone and get a sim card?

What is best way to get a data package for use for bluetooth dialup?

If I’m connected to the Internet with dialup and broadband at the same time, why is it only as fast as dialup?

I am using my cell phone as a dial up modem. As I move around my house, my laptop loses reception from my wireless router, so I connect to the internet with my cell phone as a modem. However, when both are connected, I have to disconnect my dial up connection because when both wi-fi and dial up connected, the internet is only as fast as the dial up.
