I’m trying to download a simple 1.9 MB file and its taking too long. LOL. Even for a dial up it should be faster. I see a speed between 2.9 to 4.9, sometimes 5.something, yet the actual counter displays slower. And by slower it shows like 1.6 or lower. Ugh *exasperated* Do I need to set something in the options menu to help download faster or what? My internet connection is at 26.4 Kb/s. Dont laugh. If you can help me I’d appreaciate it.

On my satellite connection my upload speed is about 50k/sec vs. a download speed of 500k/sec. I measured my dialup speed and I get an upload speed of 300k/sec and a download speed between 30-46k/sec.
If you average the upload and download speeds of each of the two methods, the “broadband” is only about 1 ½ times as fast as dialup, not the 10x faster than dialup advertised.

When I had 56k dialup the practical download speed was 5k/sec. Now I have 250k DSL and the practical download speed is 26k/sec.
the computer connects to a speed of 52 kbps( wriiten in system tray ) ,then why when i download some thing the speed is onlyyyyyyyyy 4 or 5 kbps…………………???
ok listen….i explain….when i download about 1 megabyte of something it takes about 2 minutes
that is MY DOWNLOAD SPEED THAT IS WRITTEN IN THE DOWNLOAD BOX (when i download something) is 4 kilobytes and around. 1 kilobyte =1024 bytes = 8192 bits ok??????
