Geez I hate Window updates…everytime they update one of my necessary programs quit working. My CallWave quite working (which takes calls when I had dialup on the Computer) So, since it had a corrupt, unreadable file I tried to delete the files that would interfer with installing a fresh copy of Callwave. While doing THAT (grrr) I think I deleted the Clean up Disk file found in the Control Panal. Now my computer runs slow, and I can’t clean up my disk. What should I do (help!) thanx in advance
I have 2 mathematical questions
A.) If it takes 1 hour to download a file on dialup internet, how long would it take to download the same exact file if my internet connection is 10 times faster?
B.) If it takes 25 minutes to download a file on my dialup connection now, how long would it take to download that same exact file if my internet connection is was 10 times faster?
My club is too cheap to get DSL and is using dial up and just got a computer running Vista. There are a couple of user at the club who need to be able just to run a program that does a file transfer. The problem is that I haven’t been able to get the dial up connection to fire with anything besides Firefox or IE. How do I make Vista do the dialup when I run one of the file transfer programs. I’ve tried ping, nslookup, etc. I suppose that I could make it dial by running IE and putting in a delay, but that is QUITE inelegant. Can you do better?
I actually have the “dial when a connection is needed” option already set. It often dials for IE, but not always and rarely, if ever, dials for SFTP or for any of the other file transfer programs. This is something that is specific to Vista (and rather annoying at that).
I had a couple questions about downloading speeds.
A.) if a file takes 60 minutes to download on a 56 k dialup connection, how long would it take to download the same exact file if my internet connection was now 10 times faster?
B.) If a file takes 30 minutes to download on a 56K dialup connection, how long would it take to download the same exact file if my internet connection was 10 times faster (560 kbps)?
if a file takes 1 hour to download on 56k how long would it take to download if its saved 10 times faster?
