First, a little background info.
My o/s is win98se. (I know, I know, so don’t go there, ok?)
I have IE6(all updates), and Firefox 2.0.0.4. The phone co. in my area doesn’t offer yahoo dsl, so I’m back to being tortured by a 56.6k V92 dial up modem. I like Firefox, but it runs too slow on my dialup…………
About the firewall…..
For a couple of years, I used Sygate pf (latest freeware version), with no problems at all. but recently I started experiencing BSOD’s and lockup. When this happened, the Raw log would have numerous entries of…”Logon impersonator-wrong OS”, and “system configuration has been changed”. Reinstalling didn’t solve the problem. I even tried downloading the setup from a different site, no help.
Now I’m using Kerio PF(version 2.1.5), and so far–so good. But these “attacks” slow my pageloads drastically, and I”m concerned. I have Norton a/v (up-to date), and ran Panda Activescan (both negative).
wudaya tnk….??rootkit?? Any suggestions? I’m all ears.
