I can only login to my job through dial-up, but at the same time I would like to keep surfing the net with my cable modem. Right now, I have to disconnect from dial-up if I want to use my cable internet at all, but it’s so slow and annoying. Yes, I have requested to get high speed access, but is there anything I can do until that happens?

I travel with my job typically taking contracted assignments for a 13 week stretch. When the contracts over, I move to a new location. I have considered pc cell data cards, but have heard that they dont work well and customer service is really bad besides being ridiculously expensive. Should I depend on wifi and dialup with a cheap service like peoplepc? Should I subscribe to Boingo, wayport, or ? and what are the advantages to this?
I hear the server trying to connect, but it never goes thru, this is my home line, I use AOL at my job and connect with dialup, but it goes thru, with a fast connection.
