I have dial-up, but want wireless?

Hi. I have dial-up service, because companies are too cheap to allow a cable to run down my road. A Verzion worker recently told my father that we could get a wireless card for the internet. Is that true?? We have a desktop and a couple laptops and desperately want a faster internet speed other than slow 31.2 kbps. So my question…can we get a wireless card to get wireless service??

can i make my LucentWin dial up modem faster?

my modem says that my connection speed is 115.2 kbps but when i run tests i only get between 10 and 13 kbps, which is very slow. is there any way i can bring that speed up? i am using a 56k LucentWin dial up modem?

See when i have a dialup connection of 52Kbps .when i download something for example 5 MB. but the connection status shows that i have downloaded 8MB or more.See websites size could not be more than 1MB then how can i know what is downloading.See i tried to check .by seeing the internet connection icon in the system tray.it becomes blue when something downloads so closed all browsers and stoped downloading things to see if it was still blue but not at this time .Last night i downloaded hardly about 20MB but it showed that i have downloaded 33MB. HELP ?????????????PLEASE

When i connect to dialup connection of a 52 kbps speed and download something the ” download speed ” is 4kbps?

the computer connects to a speed of 52 kbps( wriiten in system tray ) ,then why when i download some thing the speed is onlyyyyyyyyy 4 or 5 kbps…………………???
ok listen….i explain….when i download about 1 megabyte of something it takes about 2 minutes
that is MY DOWNLOAD SPEED THAT IS WRITTEN IN THE DOWNLOAD BOX (when i download something) is 4 kilobytes and around. 1 kilobyte =1024 bytes = 8192 bits ok??????
ok listen….i explain….when i download about 1 megabyte of something it takes about 2 minutes
that is MY DOWNLOAD SPEED THAT IS WRITTEN IN THE DOWNLOAD BOX (when i download something) is 4 kilobytes and around. 1 kilobyte =1024 bytes = 8192 bits ok??????
one more thing the DOWNLOAD SPEED IS SOME TIMES 16kilobytes per sec but it remains for only 2or three seconds ????why??
