This computer was working on DSL connection, but had to reformat and reload W98se (don’t want to upgrade os now). W98se comes with internet explorerer too old will only use dialup…I don’t have dialup. I do have an XP computer, I would like to download IE5 or 6, copy to a cd, then upgrade the W98se computer with it, but can’t get IE5 (only for Mac?), and when try to download IE6, will only load to connected PC (my Xp computer which doesn’t need it), won’t just put program in a file that could be copied to a CD.
I am not opposed to using another browser but don’t like netscape & don’t know if others will run on it without a more current IE.
Hope I described this issue well enough, tried to be brief. Thanks in advance.
Based on the one answer I already have, again I see I didn’t explain my issue well. I have had this computer connected to DSL, but I had upgraded IE over time. I have the appropriate hardware and cables, but the connection options available in IE assume you’re dialing up, I am thinking that back then, maybe there was no DSL, or it may have been quite unusual. Assuming that this is correct, and that I need to download a later version of IE into my XP computer, put it on CD, then install into my W98se computer with the CD, does anyone know how I can download the complete version without having to run the executable in my XP system?
