My vacation home is in the country. No cable, no DSL (phone Co. won’t consider it), only dialup. Some enterpreneurs in neighboring counties have set up wireless broadcast towers that enable folks to use for a fee. How can I identify any such providers in my area?

Is there a way to connect to internet using 2 different connections from a single pc to boost surfing speed? Long back when there was 14k modems was norm i did read about a company which marketed a modem which used 2 telephone lines to give you 28k speed! Those days 28K was like today’s T3 or better connection! I have on my disposal one GPRS connection and a 56K dialup modem connection

ok here is my problem I had a dell desktop with dialup. It was old and very basic. I was okay with the speed, i use it for internet music and photos. I recently bought a gateway laptop and I am using same dialup connection and it trememdously slow. I heard from everyone that it was going to be much faster. I don’t really need super speed but I can hardly even do anything on it. It is so slow? I am getting roadrunner soon, but why is this new one with super specs worse than old one with bad specs?

I just had a new satellite internet service put in, since it’s all I can get. Although speedtest.net reveals that I have a download speed around 1900, general browsing is slow. I can downoad a file very quickly. But just regular surfing is actually slower than dialup. Any tips to speed things up?
