Why do I keep getting disconnected? Read more…?

I have two home computers using dialup and work independently Not networked). They both have Windows XP and are in seperate rooms (one wall away). One computer hardly ever gets disconnected. The other newer computer frequently gets disconnected. Here is another mystery. When the problem computer disconnects the icon in the task bar stays there as if it were still connected. Remember, one computer hardly ever gets disconnected while the other one does all the time. Thanks.

how does multilink (dialup) work? do you need 2lines from isp/the wall jack in your home?

i know you need two modems or more but i was wondering if you will need two phone lines from internet service provider or if u use a two way splitter, to the wall jack/plug in your house(meaning two separate phone cords from modems to the two way splitter which would be connected to the wall jack/plug or two lines connected to the house from outsidewhich is connected to the telephone box/pole

Shutting down PC when it Storms?

With Dialup I just turned off my surge protector, and unplugged phone wire from wall.
So now with DSL what do I do? I am really lost and it storms bad here in Oklahoma. What do I turn and unplug.
