I have a desktop running Windows XP Home, a laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium, and an ethernet cross over cable. How do I set up the computers so I can share files between them? Neither are on any type of network (The only internet I have is dialup). Both have a base 10/100 network card.

i have dialup at home, but access to broadband. i have an old copy of windows xp home edition, and would like to install it. so the question is; is there a package of all of the windows updates that i could download on one computer and then take it home and update my computer with? i already have the sp2 redistributable package, got it from here :

I would like to use scheduled tasks in windows xp home to automate some tasks. How can add a dialup connect to the scheduled tasks…what i would like to is have the computer establish my default dialup connection everyday at noon, then run my email program, etc, and then automatically disconnect at midnight. It seems as you can’t directly add a dialup connection to the task scheduler, as when i have tried it before and then checked it, the link doesn’t work.
I found a solution….none of the answers that were provided to me are correct. I had to create a shortcut to a batch file that references “rasphone.exe” and use my username and password as switches.

i was running windows xp home edition with intel celeron processor 2.5 hard drive 40g 3d intel extreme graphic card agp
and 256mg of ddr memory i already check for loose cables but they are ok my power supply i think its good because i put
it on another computer and it worked and by the way when i press the on-off button the tic-tic inside my computer goes faster
any ideas guys please give me a hand “big” please.
the computer just keeps cliking it doesnt show anything on my screen no self test no windows xp start and i think the litle click
comes from the hd i think im not sure of that and yes the power supply its what it came with when i bougth it and it keeps

the click starts as soon as i plug the power cord and the ligth on the on-off button keeps blinking it doesnt even read the hd

i think the sound comes from the proccesor i think
and also makes a litle litle noise like when you try to conect to the internet with a dialup connection but just a litle bit

and did unplug all the power cables off the hd ,cd writter
i check the hd with another computer as a slave and it worked good i guess the problem is going to be the mobo or memory
